Where do I find information on boys teams?
The Belleville Spirits boys teams operate independently and are not affiliated with the Belleville Spirits Girls Basketball Club. Each program has its own leadership, structure, and operations.

What does Belleville Spirits Girls Basketball Club offer?
Belleville Spirits offers female student-athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and compete at some of the highest levels of basketball in Ontario. Our program includes competitive rep teams, skill development opportunities, and a house league designed to support players of all experience levels.
Whether athletes are just starting out or striving for elite competition, Belleville Spirits provides a supportive, structured environment to grow both on and off the court.
When are tryouts?
Team tryouts are held each September. Keep an eye on our social media for announcements, or visit the Tryouts page on our website for dates and locations.
What does a competitive season entail?
Seasons run October-May and typically include:
2 practices per week
12 OBL games played over five weekends
Overnight tournament(s)
Exhibition games
Ontario Basketball Championships
End of year banquet
What size ball does my player need?
Size Recommended For
Size 6 28.5" Girls and women ages 12+
Size 5 27.5" Youth ages 9-11 years old
Size 4 25.5" Youth ages 5-8 years old
How much does a competitive season cost?
2022 player registration fees - $675
2021 player registration fees - $750
* fees vary per season
Registration fees are due with player registration. Fees can be paid in one lump sum, or divided into two installation payments, due in October and November.
Player expenses may also include:

How much travel is involved in competitive seasons?
Most Spirits teams compete in the Ontario Basketball League (OBL). A typical season includes 12 games played over 5 weekends, primarily in the GTA and surrounding areas. In addition, each team selects its own tournaments to participate in throughout the season.
Why does Spirits need sponsors or donations?
As a not for profit community organization, we rely on the support of sponsors and donors to keep basketball affordable for local athletes.
Sponsorship and donor funds help:
- Lower player registration fees
- Cover gym rental costs
- Cover OBL registration fees
- Cover tournament registration fees
- Cover Ontario Cup registration fees
- Provide uniforms for athletes
- Support club-wide operational costs
How can my player prepare for tryouts?
Many local high schools run development leagues in the Spring. Summer Camps, and Clinics are a great idea too. Follow our social media for development opportunities.
How often do competitive teams practice?
Our competitive teams practice twice a week. Practices are mandatory to attend.
